Lindsay called me in a panic because the photographer she and Kevin had booked for their wedding wasn’t able to come through for them.  The wedding was coming up fast…in just two short weeks!!  It just so happens I was available because their wedding was booked on a Sunday, and I felt so lucky to step in for this incredibly beautiful couple. It was a beautiful warm wedding day in the mountains.  Mike was unavailable short notice, so this was the first time I photographed a wedding by myself.  The situation couldn’t have been better for a potentially stressful “first-time” experience.

I met the bride and groom and wedding party minutes before they walked down the aisle, and they were the sweetest people.  We were so well suited for each other, and I am so thankful for these beautiful memories!

Quarry Lake Park in Canmore, Alberta has got to be right up there on my favorite wedding locations of all time list.  Everywhere you point your camera, you get the most stunning scenery.

My top 5 favorite things about this wedding…

1. Location. (obviously!)

2. Emotion.  The entire bridal party, the parents, the bride and groom all wore emotions on their sleeve.  They felt free to express through smiles, tears and cheering throughout the ceremony, and it made for fantastic heart felt photographs that tell a story to anyone looking at them.

3. Outside of the box way of thinking. There were a couple rows of chairs (only for people that needed them), and standing room for everyone else which I thought was odd at first.  I loved how it created a natural relaxed atmosphere for their guests.  People were more mingling before the ceremony started, they were laid back and the excitement in the air was so good you could feel it!

4. Checkered shirts. The guys wore black and white checkered shirts.  This bold statement was played down by the solid grey jackets and simple flowers.  The girls black dresses added so much class – the bridal party was stylin’ from head to toe with no lack of personality.

5. Personality.  The bride and groom were such down the earth beautiful people.  The bridal party was so on board with my style too which made my job so easy.  Lindsay had some ideas for photos that she felt told the story of who they were, and I am always up for capturing anything that is meaningful for the bride and groom!

This photo melts my heart. Kevin was clearly nervous and excited to see his bride.  After making eye contact with his stunning bride after walking down that long aisle

he looks away. I can only imagine what he must have been thinking!

There’s some of that personality I was talking about earlier…
