THE WEDDING
Arthur and Emily had one of those magical weddings that anyone would love to be a part of. They shared their vows in the Fairmont Palliser’s CP Rail Pavilion, under a large canopy adorned with glass spheres and flowers.

Pink was the colour of the day, and the Alberta Ballroom at the Fairmont Palliser was decked to the nines with elegant linens and lighting. Outside the ballroom, guests could enjoy punch from the ice sculpture and snacks from the candy bar.

Thanks Emily and Arthur for letting us be a part of your big day! You two are incredibly sweet and a wonderful couple to work with.

Last night we welcomed a healthy precious baby girl to the world at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, B.C at 9:46p.m. I was asked to be a part of this experience by photographing baby June Margaret Winter Kitchen’s first amazing moments with her family in the delivery room, and it was a wonderful experience.

Kim Kitchen, photographer/owner of Twiggy Photography photographs families and births herself – so it was important for her to have all of these precious moments captured.

I wanted to celebrate with you this morning by sharing photos from a maternity / family session that we captured of this beautiful family before June Margaret Winter Kitchen made her entrance.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you, our wonderful fans!  Thanks for all the love and support you’ve shown us – we have had a great  year filled with beautiful weddings and outstanding clients!  We are so grateful to have shared these experiences with you.

Speaking of wonderful clients… Meet Dan & Justine. These two beautiful people are getting married in just a few weeks, and Mike and I are excited to start this new year off by photographing them again on their wedding day.

We photographed this session with Justine & Dan’s Christmas cards in mind – and had some fun photographing the two of them decorating a little  tree that we found.

Dan is a beekeeper, and he owns Vancouver Island’s Big D’s Bees.  His family owns Coastal Black Estate Winery – where many of the bees make this delicious honey, and help to pollinate the fruit used to create the delicious fruit wines and meads that Coastal Black offers.  The winery is beautiful.  If you are ever in Black Creek, B.C.  I would highly recommend trying some sparkling blackberry wine or perhaps some blueberry mead!

Justine and I were both wearing our favourite rubber boots – and the boys were teasing us.  ”When did rubber boots become fashionable anyways?” and “when did rubber become so expensive?”  Haha…  I don’t know when the fad started,  but I *do* know that I LOVE my boots.  Justine and I walked into the chilly ocean water for these photos, and our feet stayed dry and warm.  Dan stayed dry and warm too… thanks to Justine.  ;)  See how practical they are boys?

Justine and Dan – thanks for the fun engagement session!  We are excited to work with you again soon!

Steve and Alycia were married at Gavin’s Lake (close to Williams Lake) in the fall, and we had the unique opportunity to photograph these two and their awesome bridal party the day after the wedding. We were already booked to photograph Scott and Courtney’s wedding in Victoria (the last blog post), so the four of us decided that it would be great to get creative with the situation and shoot the next day at Gavin’s Lake. Mike and I are always up for an adventure, and Steve and Alycia enjoy thinking out of the box as well, so the plan was made!

Mike and I took the tiniest little airplane to Williams Lake from Vancouver, and we arrived around noon at this little rustic camp in the-middle-of-no-where. The lake and wooded area was absolutely beautiful. There were small wood cabins by the lake where friends and family had stayed for the wedding. It was a bit cold on the actual wedding day by the lake, so we were lucky to have a warm and sunny fall day for our photo time. It was fun to take our time with the photos, and Alycia and I especially loved that we had a chance to get in some photos with her favorite horse!

Steve and Alycia met at the summer camp in Crofton, B.C where Mike and I had also met – Camp Qwanoes.  Steve’s groomsman were all old friends of ours from Camp Q – so it was all too much fun to spend some time with these guys.  Brian (far left) even made his way to Williams Lake all the way from New Zealand to be in the wedding!  If these guys can’t make you laugh… I don’t know who will.  These guys had us and all the lovely bridesmaids giggling too.

Steve & Alycia – thanks for this surreal wedding experience & congratulations on your marriage!!

When Scott and Courtney emailed us to inquire about our photography packages – we were thrilled! This stylish couple has a great eye for creative photography, and Scott himself is a photographer. Scott and Courtney were so excited about their wedding, and their excitement and creativity was inspiring to us. We had such a fantastic time with Scott, Courtney, and their wonderful bridal party.

Scott and Courtney had their ceremony in the evening and the reception followed shortly after. They opted for a “first look” so that the majority of the photographs could be taken before the ceremony began. The “first look” is when the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony.

Courtney’s parents had a beautiful backyard with a little orchard, so we planned to have Scott close his eyes and be led by his groomsman to his stunning bride. Courtney was waiting by the trees, and when Scott opened his eyes, his reaction to seeing his bride for the first time was priceless.

We headed to the Fisgard Lighthouse at Fort Rodd Hill in Esquimalt to get in a few images by the sea.  We were worried it might rain, so we wanted to make sure that we were close to cover.  The property by the lighthouse is just so beautiful – so it worked out perfectly for us.  The rain held out until after the ceremony – so we were very lucky!

The ceremony was held at Saint Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church. I loved all the wood, stained glass and the warm colours in the church.  It was a truly beautiful service.

Scott & Courtney – we wish you the very best!  We hope your first Christmas together is wonderful!

Vicki and Andy had their wedding at Strathcona Park Lodge on Vancouver Island. Their guests stayed in rustic cabins, and enjoyed a weekend away with friends and family at this peaceful and scenic venue by the lake. Even though the rain wouldn’t stop in time for the ceremony, everyone was in great spirits and enjoyed the warm and charming barn which made for a great ceremony location in a pinch. Expand Post.

Francis and Jennifer had one of the most unique and stylish weddings we have ever been to. When we first met the couple, they shared a vision of what their wedding would look like and how they were going to make it happen. Jennifer has a formal background in Interior Decorating and Makeup Design, and she used her training and industry experience to bring their vision to life.

Jennifer and Francis successfully blended elements of design, style, and culture to make their wedding day special, and it turned out amazing! Great food, fun details, and lots of personal touches made their reception, in particular, one of a kind! It was an unforgettable day for an awesome couple.

Congrats Jen & Francis. What a great wedding!
