[Jay and Alyssa ♥ dinos]
Mike and I had been looking forward to Jay and Alyssa’s wedding ever since we met them. Alyssa found SNAP while she was googling wedding photographers in Calgary, and after reviewing our portfolio she sent us an email with the subject “Want to come to the Zoo?”
Emails between Mike and Alyssa flew back and forth, and we were so excited to actually meet this couple with such fun personalities. We hit it off almost instantly while playing darts at a local pub for our first meeting, and since then were looking forward to this fun and unique wedding.
Some favorites from the day…
The Ceremony was held in the Dorothy Harvie gardens at the Calgary Zoo. The sky threatened rain all morning, but held out until the ceremony was finished. I loved that Jay and Alyssa had intertwined their style and personalities throughout the day. While Jay and his groomsman entered the gardens dancing to a rock song, Alyssa and her bridesmaids entered to a much softer tune. It was a perfect combination of excitement and emotion.
Jay’s boutonniere fell off his jacket during his entrance, but it was a great moment to capture when his brother pinned it back on quickly before the girls noticed!
I snapped this photo while Alyssa began her walk down the aisle. Jay literally gasped when he saw his bride for the first time.
There were lots of family and friends in attendance, as well as some other characters…

Jay and Alyssa are famous for drinking Dad’s Rootbeer together on their dates. It only made sense that they would hand out rootbeer to everyone at the wedding for the toasts!
