Today I’m blogging a wedding that I never had a chance to blog last summer. 2011 was a busy season for us at SNAP – we travelled to Mexico, up and down Vancouver Island, to Calgary and many places in between. One of my favourite weddings of the summer was that of my good friend Emily and her wonderful husband Thomas that took place in Victoria, B.C.

I shifted gears from photographer to bridesmaid, and it was so fun to be on the other side of things. Emily hired our mutual friend, the wonderful Courtney Clarke to photograph the ceremony and formals. Emily’s sister Megan is also a photographer, so between the three of us there were camera’s clicking all day. Megan blogged a more extensive post here, and did a fabulous job capturing her little sister’s day!

Emily is one of my most stylish, creative and beautiful friends. I just adore her sweet and fun personality, and was honoured to be a part of the wedding party. Mike and I have been so happy to spend time getting to know Thomas, the two of them are a perfect match. We are lucky to have “inherited” such a great friend.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the day!

Emily & Thomas – we are so happy to have great friends like you! Wishing you a 100 years of happiness!

Mike and I met up with Heather and Erik in Parksville where we met for the first time before their engagement session.  We love sitting down with our clients before our photo session begins to get a sense of what makes each relationship unique.  It’s important to us that we can have a fun and relaxed photo session to capture people’s true personalities.

Mike and I continue to be amazed by the clients that find SNAP, and the job that we are blessed to have – it is always so much fun getting out and taking pictures of lovely people.  Even though the rain came down for a little bit, we lucked out with a wonderful photo session with a great couple in Parksville, B.C.

Erik & Heather met each other for the first time at the Starbucks in Parksville, so we jumped at the opportunity for a warm drink and a fun prop to help tell their story.

If you saw our last blog post, you will recognize Renee from a maternity session that we did with her and her husband a few weeks ago! Renee is one of my sister’s closest friends – so my sister flew in from Calgary when she thought of this rare photo opportunity with her good friend! Renee and Amanda both happen to be pregnant with their first babies, so we decided it would be fun to do a double maternity session! Amanda is due in July, and Renee in April.

It was a cool windy day in Victoria, B.C – but we didn’t let that stop us! Both of these girls live in Alberta, so the weather didn’t seem so bad for March. The wind added a fun dynamic to a few of the photos.

Here are a few of my favorites! Enjoy!

Best Wishes,

Wayne and Renee live in Fort McMurray, so it’s always exciting when these two take a trip to Vancouver Island for a visit! These wonderful, beautiful people are expecting a baby this spring, and we were excited to have the opportunity to photograph them again!

Wayne & Renee own a beautiful property here on the island, and we thought it might be interesting to have a “before” photo of their little family on the site where their future home will be. The “after photo” will be so drastically different!

Wayne & Renee, we wish you all the best as you prepare for your little ones arrival! We can’t wait to here whether you will be having a little boy or little girl! Either way… we can’t wait to meet your little baby.

Best Wishes,
Mike & Ashley Kitchen

It’s engagement sessions like this one that get us super excited about our weddings this summer! Danica & Paul are such fun, down to earth, beautiful people. We can’t wait for their wedding in August!

We met up in Cowichan Bay, which was the perfect spot for photos of this couple. Danica and Paul just moved onto a boat, and we thought a nautical theme could be pretty fitting for these two & their pup. (Mike and I were pretty intrigued by their new adventurous lifestyle, and had our eye on a few of the awesome floating homes for sale in the area!)

Danica & Paul – thanks for the great afternoon!

Dan and Justine were married at Campbell River Baptist Church,  and their reception followed at the beautiful Crown Isle Golf Resort in Courtenay, B.C.  Mike and I were excited to start of our 2012 season with such great clients as Dan and Justine!   We had a refreshing break from a busy wedding season in 2011, but couldn’t wait to get out and photograph another wedding.

We had some beautiful landscapes to work with in the area, and we were so excited to work with these two again after getting to know them at our engagement session.  Dan and Justine are such a great pair, I can’t imagine two people better suited to each other.  They both share a warm, down to earth spirit and a great sense of humour and adventure.  We felt lucky to be a part of the “family” for the day!  Here are few of our favorite images from a wonderful winter wedding day on Vancouver Island.

The food was beautifully presented at Crown Isle, and the taste was just as lovely.  The favours at each table setting was small jar of Big D’s honey – made by none other than the bee keeper “big D” (Daniel!) himself.  The wine on the tables was the absolutely delicious Coastal Black Blackberry table wine and mead from the family business located in Black Creek, B.C!  I recommend you get out and try some of these incredibly delicious products right away – and no… they didn’t pay me to say that ;)

Congratutions Daniel & Justine!

Last night we welcomed a healthy precious baby girl to the world at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, B.C at 9:46p.m. I was asked to be a part of this experience by photographing baby June Margaret Winter Kitchen’s first amazing moments with her family in the delivery room, and it was a wonderful experience.

Kim Kitchen, photographer/owner of Twiggy Photography photographs families and births herself – so it was important for her to have all of these precious moments captured.

I wanted to celebrate with you this morning by sharing photos from a maternity / family session that we captured of this beautiful family before June Margaret Winter Kitchen made her entrance.
