It was a great working with Tom & Leah. These two are just adorable – we’ve enjoyed ourselves every time we’ve met with them!

Elaine and Todd were married on July 30, which just so happens to be Ashley’s birthday. The morning of a wedding, we’re often quite busy running around getting last minute details together. With this in mind, I *may* have neglected to give her a birthday card on her birthday. No big deal, right? I’d give her one the next day and everything would be fine.

We first met Jennifer and Francis during our engagement shoot with them a couple months back. What was supposed to be a 2 hour shoot turned into 6 or 7 as we talked, laughed, and ate late night pizza with them. As we’ve been hearing the plans and ideas for the wedding, we’ve been getting more and more excited to see how it would all turn out. We were not disappointed – this was one of the most unique wedding receptions we’ve ever seen!

The first few shots you see are a departure from the usual “guys getting ready” pictures – Francis and his “brothers” decided instead to revisit some of the places they grew up in. I’m not convinced that Francis actually ever dunked over these guys, but on your wedding day, you’re allowed to dream a little, right?

As part of the celebration, Jennifer had a special surprise for Francis – She commissioned a piece of art from The Kid Belo, artist David Brunning. Francis has always loved David’s work, and unbeknownst to him, Jennifer has known him personally for years!

We can’t wait for the next time we have a chance to hang out with Jennifer + Francis. You two are a couple of the most genuine people we’ve ever met. All the love and happiness in the world for you two!

After our last wedding at the Lougheed House, we’ve been eager to return – It’s such a beautiful part of Calgary’s history! Luckily for us, Jeff and Chantal had their entire wedding planned there – from getting ready in the morning right through the reception.

After a threateningly stormy morning, the clouds parted and we had an absolutely glorious day for this outdoor wedding.

Jeff and Chantal, we had a fantastic time getting to know you two – All the best to you in your future together!

We met up with Vicky and Weison last fall downtown Vancouver at a Blenz coffee shop to discuss the details of their wedding. Ever since meeting them we were really excited to work with them on their big day!

You see… we love the traditions involved in Chinese weddings, and Vicky and Weison are such a wonderful couple. Vicky is incredibly sweet and Weison has a smile that could cheer anyone’s day.

It is always wonderful when we have the opportunity to work with our Videographers, Kevin and Ashley – and the SNAP team started the day bright and early with the Ashley’s photographing and filming the girls getting ready at the Salon, and Mike and Kevin met up with the guys as they prepared for the first tea ceremony.

The weather behaved for us despite the thunder warnings in Calgary – and we were treated with a beautiful sunny and warm summer day. The Ceremony was held at the St Mary’s Cathedral, a dramatic and stunning church located in the heart of downtown. The reception was at the Regency in China town.

Vicky and Weison, we had a great day with you and your friends and family. We wish you all the best in your new lives together!

I LOVE the shot of the yellow flowers in the foreground and them in background and those bouquets are SPLENDID! How unique!

Diana and Johnny’s wedding day was full of traditions that were new to Mike and I, and we were excited to be a part of such a uniquely beautiful day.

The Ceremony was held at St Vladimir’s Ukranian Orthodox Church in Calgary, and capturing their ceremony was probably my favorite part of the day. There was so much symbolism and beauty surrounding their unity.

Here are some of our favorite images from the day.

I should mention that Diana and Johnny’s wedding ended up falling on one of the coldest days in Calgary , it was -30 with windchill! Diana and Johnny wanted to take a few photos outside, so they hoped out of their warm limo for a few minutes while we snapped photos quickly.

Sometimes at a Romanian wedding reception- there are “criminals” that come to steal the bride from the wedding. A ransom had to be paid to get the bride back to her groom.

I think Johnny was happy to have his bride back.

I loved the part of the reception where the bride officially became a wife. Her veil was given to her cousin, and her mother wrapped her head in a married woman’s head covering.

Johnny and Diana, we wish you all the best in this new life together!

When we first met with Jeremy & Jenn, we felt a connection to them very quickly. We found that we had a lot of common ground as we discussed life and love with them. We were thrilled when they asked us to photograph their wedding, and it was a great way to round out our season in Calgary.

Now, when you’ve booked a wedding on October 30 in Calgary, the first thing you start to think about is the weather. We were prepared and anticipating a typical winter day, but we were blown away by what we actually got. It was 15 degrees out! I definitely think that the bridesmaids and Jenn were especially thankful for the warmer day.

This photo is for everyone from Vancouver Island that wonders what I’m talking about when I say how much I miss the sky. Have you ever seen such a breathtaking landscape? This is SOTC (Straight Out of The Camera) – no editing of any sort.

Jeremy and Jenn – It was an honour and a privilege to have spent your wedding day with you. We wish you all the best going forward in your new life together.

The air was buzzing with excitement the entire day as friends and family gathered to celebrate with Hildy and Bobby in their new journey as husband and wife.

The day started out early at the Bride’s home where the Groom and his attendants were given a series of games and challenges to complete in order to win the right to enter. After winning the approval of the bridesmaids and Hildy’s other female friends, the guys stormed the door where Hildy and Bobby would see each other for the first time that day.

The first of two tea ceremonies took place in the living room, where the bride and groom kneeled to serve tea to their parents and other family members to honour them with respect and thanks. In turn, they were presented with jewelry and “lucky” envelopes.

Changing into her wedding gown, Hildy gets ready for the wedding ceremony held at the new Hotel on the University Campus, Hotel Alma.

The wedding reception was held at the Regency Palace Restaurant downtown Calgary, where Mike and I experienced our first ever 10 course dinner. There was not a dull moment during the dinner, as random guest names were picked throughout the dinner to compete in challenges and games.

I loved how the wedding party went to each table, toasting each guest and thanking them for attending. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.

I’ll leave you with these last few photos of Hildy and Bobby cutting their wedding cake. These two made each other laugh all day! They didn’t disappoint us when it came time to cut the cake!

Curtis & Pamela shared their wedding ceremony with close friends at the Riverside B&B. The venue had a breathtaking view – white chairs were placed on dramatic tiers and overlooked the river valley below. It turned out to be a cold fall day in Okotoks, but guests kept warm under blankets and jackets while they waited for the ceremony to begin. The cold didn’t put a damper on Curtis’ spirits – he had a massive smile as he watched his bride walk down the stairs, looking more beautiful then ever.

Pamela opted for a practical and stylish flip flop to wear under her dress – I love these golden bridal havaianas!

These two didn’t stop smiling all day – It’s so easy to see how much they adore each other! We wish you both all the best in the years to come!

Hey there Pam & Curtis……Sorry I wasn't able to be there for the celebration but your pictures are fantastic…..see you soon! Colleen

When we first met Alexis and Jordan, they were very excited to book with us right away. Unfortunately, we were already booked for their wedding day! That first consultation ended with both us and them quite disappointed that things weren’t going to work out.

However, only a few days later, Alexis contacted us and let us know that they were changing the date of their wedding to make it work! We’ve been very excited about this wedding ever since.

As if that first trouble wasn’t enough, earlier this year, the venue they had booked went out of business! After some scrambling, they managed to book a different venue, the Gerry Thomas Art Gallery – and it was fantastic!

During our engagment shoot with these two, we spent some time at a barn in Inglewood that they both just loved. We decided to recreate those pictures with the entire bridal party:

We had a *touch* of rain, so we headed for cover at 100 Wines , where we were treated royally by our friend David Walker. We snuck into the wine locker and snapped a few shots while the bridal party enjoyed some prosecco!

We had such a blast all day with this couple and their bridal party. A fantastic day from start to finish, and a great start to married life for these two High School sweethearts!
All the best to you both,

Mike
